    Origin: 1230 C.E.; Middle English cunte, similar to Old Norse kunta, OFris kunte, MLG kunte, Middle Dutch kunte.

    The English word cunt first appears in English writing approximately 1230 in the Oxford or London street name Gropecuntlane, presumed to have been a street frequented by prostitutes. The word cunt has been avoided in public speech since around the 15th century and has been considered obscene since the 17th century. Some 18th century writers referred to the word cunt as “the monosyllable”.
